"Water Research for Changing World"
World Water Day 2017 was celebrated at PCRWR Headquarter, Islamabad on March 20, 2017.Speaking on the occasion Mr. Muhammad Azam, Deputy Mayor of Islamabad MCI (Metropolitan Corporation of Pakistan) said that groundwater depletion, water shortage and waste water management are the major problems, which Capital was facing presently.“A Committee has been constituted in this regard which has conducted more than 15 meetings. We want to resolve these issues with the coordination of Government, Opposition and organizations like PCRWR”. He further remarked.Earlier Dr. Muhammad Ashraf Chairman PCRWR said that UN-Water has declared the theme of World Water Day 2017 “Wastewater”. “We are polluting our water and hence poisoning our “Natural Spring of Life”. If we conserve water we will be able to reduce our waste water production, and its management will become easy”. He further said.Dr. Ghulam Rasool, Director General, Pakistan Meteorological Department said that water pricing and proper billing were the only way to stop its wastage. The representative from UNESCO, ICIMOD, IUCN, LEAD Pakistan, NARC, NUST, ECO-SF and Ripha University presented their celebrations.ICIMOD Link Back
