It is my pleasure to welcome you to PCRWR
website. Pakistan Council of Research in Water Resources (PCRWR), which
started its journey in 1964. Shaping the structure of the organization from “research
for sustainable development” to a new role for acting as water sector facilitator
was a great challenge for which, a complete change of mindset was required. Today,
by the grace of Almighty Allah, the PCRWR has multiple success stories in the fields
of water resources management, desertification control and water quality oriented
research and development. It is a matter of acknowledgment that
the PCRWR has taken several initiatives to make its research and development strategy
more efficient, vibrant and responsive to the emerging national issues in the global
scenario. We have developed our capacity, human resources and infrastructure with
state of the art technologies in diversified fields of water management, water quality program
for surface water, provision of safe drink water through a network of water quality
laboratories all over the country,
desertification control, groundwater investigation, information technology for taking
up the emerging challenges as per priorities set in the Government policy. The infrastructure at the PCRWR Headquarters and its regional and sub regional outfits are actively involved in strengthening
research capabilities
in area of Water Quantity and Quality.
This includes major research and development projects, short-term research studies,
joint research ventures with national/international agencies, development of technologies,
building capacity, research publications and human resources development, including
public awareness campaign through seminars/workshops and conferences, specifically
organized to benefit the water sector stakeholders about the facilitation and support
offered by the Council in all the aforementioned water related fields.
It is believed
that this is merely a small beginning of a long journey to go for meeting the water
sector challenges faced by the nation in terms of declining quantity, deteriorating
quality, water resources management together with new venues of wastewater management,
saline agriculture and dry land farming. Although, the task is gigantic, yet is
achievable (Inshallah) with the will and support of Government of Pakistan, all the water stakeholders and above all the
commitment and dedication
of our research team. |
