| Ministry of Industries, Production and Special Initiatives
|
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between PCRWR and the Ministry of Environment on July 14, 2006, for the collaboration in research sharing facilities and dissemination of knowledge and information, under the Project “Clean Drinking Water for All”. Later the project was taken over by Ministry of Industries, Production and Special Initiatives. Under this collaboration, PCRWR has conducted water quality assessment survey of 6574 locations in the union councils of four provinces of Pakistan, where, the water filtration plants will be installed by GoP.

| Centre of Excellence in Water Resources Engineering (CEWRE)
|
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between PCRWR and the Centre of Excellence in Water Resources Engineering (CEWRE) Lahore on June 20, 2006 for cooperation in research, sharing facilities, training and dissemination of knowledge and information.

| Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC)
|
PCRWR is conducting research in collaboration with PARC under the Agricultural Linkages Programme (ALP). Recently two projects have been completed entitled “Refinement of Skimming well Design and Operational Strategies for Sustainable Groundwater Management” and “Use of Low Quality Groundwater for Sustainable Crop Production”.

| Pakistan Science Foundation (PSF)
|
The Council has conducted two research studies under the financial support of PSF, entitled “Impact Evaluation of Water Resources Development in the Command Areas of Small Dams” and “Assessment of Water Resources and Development of Strategic Water Utilization Plan in Pothwar Region, for Sustainable Management”.

International

| International Commission on Irrigation and Drainage (ICID)
|
The PCRWR organizes activities i.e. seminars, workshops, round tables, walks etc. each year, on World Water Day, March 22, in accordance with the theme of the year declared by United Nations General Assembly. The report of activities is submitted to the Pakistan National Committee on ICID.

| European Commission
|
The ASSESS-HKH consortium is a co-operation of Asian scientists from Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal and Pa kistan and European scientists from Austria, the Czech Republic and Germany. This research work is coordinated by Boku University of Natural Resources and Applied Sciences, Vienna, Austria, and is supported by European Commission under the sixth Framework Programme contributing to priority “Specific measures in support of international co-operation managing humid and semi-humid ecosystems”. The PCRWR is conducting river quality assessment in Pakistan, under this project, by applying different ecological tools.

| Inter Islamic Network on Water Resources Development and Management (INWARDAM)
|
INWARDAM member states represent eight countries i.e.. Bangladesh, Egypt, Jordan, Mali, Nigeria, Pakistan, Tunis and Turkey. PCRWR is the focal point for INWARDAM In collaboration with INWARDAM, the PCRWR has conducted training courses and workshops on ‘’Groundwater Modelling’’ in 1998 in which 25 experts from 18 countries participated. The second regional workshop was conducted in Pakistan at Islamabad in 2001 on ‘’Management of Agricultural Drainage Water’’ in which 20 water experts from seven muslim countries participated. Scientists and engineers of PCRWR also participate in the seminars and workshops organized by INWARDAM in other member countries.

| Pak-US Cooperation in Science and technology
|
The US Department of Agriculture (USDA), US Geological Survey (USGS), and Argone National Laboratory are collaborating for the research programmes in Pakistan: An Integrated Water Resource Management; An Assessment of Water Quality; and Water Treatment Using Desalination Technology and Other Methods.
Exchange of visits, information sharing, technical assistance and training of scientists/ engineers of PCRWR in the fields of water resources, water quality database management using GIS and Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) monitoring is in progress at Water Quality Laboratory and Science Centre of USGS.

| UNESCO, International Hydrological Programme (IHP)
|
Preliminary proposal for establishing a Regional Water Management Research Centre for Arid and Semi-Arid Zones in Pakistan, under the auspices of UNESCO has been approved in principal, during the 17th session (July 3-7, 2006) of the Council of IHP. After the final approval, the Regional Water Management Research Centre for Arid and Semi-Arid Zones will be established at PCRWR.

| United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF)

UNICEF and PCRWR have long been collaborating with each other, in the research programmes of drinking water quality assessment and management. PCRWR has conducted a number of research studies and also successfully developed water testing and treatment technologies.

| United Nations University (UNU)
|
The PCRWR is establishing organic contaminants testing facilities at its National Water Quality Laboratory (NWQL), in collaboration with UNU.
