Water Body Inventory of Pakistan

Water Body Inventory of Pakistan is an interactive digital platform developed by the International Water Management Institute (IWMI), Pakistan office with funding from CGIAR’s Science Programs (Policy Innovations and Climate Action), which was launched on June 18, 2025, at Serena Hotel, Islamabad, during the National Workshop on Water, Energy, Food, and Environment (WEFE) Nexus Policy under a Changing Climate in Pakistan. This platform provides comprehensive data on water storage infrastructure across the country.
The dashboard includes detailed information on large and small dams, retention dams, ponds, flood protection structures, rivers, lakes, canals, and other surface water resources. Built with high-resolution satellite imagery and verified by national and provincial agencies, the portal ensures data accuracy and offers insights into both seasonal and non-seasonal water bodies. Users can explore this data through interactive maps, tables, with filtering options by region, administrative boundaries, or type of structure.
