In-Country Capacity Building Training Program Enhancing Water Quality System to achieve SDG 6 in Pakistan Ausgust 15, 2023
PCRWR in Collaboration with Ministry of Climate Change, Government of Pakistan and Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) executing the project “Enhancing Water Quality System to achieve SDG 6 in Pakistan”. As per approved PC-I of the project Pakistan Council of Research in Water Resources (PCRWR) is organizing the local training program for lab workforce of PHED Punja and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at National Capacity Building Institute(“NCBI”) of PCRWR. The In-country training course is going to start on August 15, 2023 and ends up on June 14, 2024. In this context the opening ceremony of the course was organized on August 15, 2023.
Mr. Jeho Yeon, Director KOICA, Dr. Jaewon Choi/ K-Water and Ms. Heejung Son, Senior Manager Capacity Building K-water graced the event with their presence. Dr. Hifza Rasheed, Director General PCRWR delivered the welcome address, in which she presented the brief overview of the training program and the prevailing water quality scenario of Pakistan. Dr. Muhammad Ashraf, Chairman PCRWR emphasised on importance of Human Resource development to improve their performance and productivity. Mr. Jey-Won Choi explained the objective of the project ‘Enhancing SDG 6 Water Quality Monitoring in Pakistan’, to extend cooperation on enhancing water quality monitoring and to improve the capacity of the Government of Pakistan to achieve SDG 6 with a cost of 7.42 million dollars from 2019 to 2024. Moreover, KOICA is providing water quality testing equipment and training to PHED (Public Health Engineering Department) laboratories and enhancing MIS (Management Information System) in Punjab and KP provinces. Moreover, Ms Heejung Son gave an overview of the Master Training Program conducted in K-Water academy Korea. She also appreciated the efforts of PCRWR and K-Water Team for arranging an In-Country capacity building training program. At the end of the event Souvenirs were distributed among K-water team for their efforts to make this project successful.
