PCRWR Concepts Accepted for Catalytic Funding and Being Implemented by Partner Agencies October 1, 2025

The Pakistan Council of Research in Water Resources (PCRWR) has achieved a major milestone under the FCDO WARAP-III Catalytic Fund Call, managed by Oxford Policy Management Institute (OPM). Out of 10 concept notes submitted by PCRWR in June 2025, 4 were accepted and approved for implementation.
Following this success, several partner agencies have stepped forward to upscale PCRWR’s concepts on the ground, with PCRWR providing technical support throughout. These include:
Upscaling PCRWR’s Wetlands Methodology for Wastewater Recycling in Islamabad – being implemented by Farmers Development Organization (FDO).
Upscaling Rainwater Harvesting for Cholistan’s Water – being implemented by South Asian Partnership Pakistan (SAP-PK).
Groundwater Revival through Rainwater Harvesting in the Cholistan Desert – being implemented by South Asian Partnership Pakistan (SAP-PK).
Water Conservation Measures using Rainwater Harvesting and Groundwater Recharge in Okara – being implemented by Sungi Foundation.
Today, a signing ceremony was held at the office of the Chairman CDA between the Farmers Development Organization (FDO) and the Capital Development Authority (CDA). The agreement covers the Upscaling of Hybrid Constructed Wetlands for wastewater recycling in Sector F-7 and Rawal Town, Islamabad, as well as Rainwater Harvesting and Groundwater Recharge projects designed at three different levels to address urban water challenges.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Chairman CDA, representatives of OPM, and FDO commended PCRWR’s pioneering role in promoting sustainable and nature-based water management solutions.
This achievement reflects PCRWR’s long-standing commitment to applied research and innovation in water resources management. Despite institutional challenges, PCRWR professionals continue to play a catalytic role in advancing water security and conservation across Pakistan.
